Vulgar Cycles, Joelene – Charlotte, NC Motorcycle Photography

I recently had the opportunity to work with Mitch from Vulgar Cycles to photograph one of his recent builds. Meet Joelene. She’s a gorgeous motorcycle built and fabricated by Mitch. Do yourself a favor and check out all the cool things Mitch is doing with Vulgar Cycles in Charlotte, NC. CLICK HERE for his site. We gained access to an amazing building in Charlotte for these photos and I could have asked for a better location, lighting, or subject. All of these things together made this worth it. The only thing that we would have changed would be the weather so we could get some photos of James, the owner, taking Joelene for a ride while I shot out the back of Mitch’s El Camino. But, don’t worry…I have a feeling that’s going to happen once it’s riding season. I can’t wait to strap into the bed of an El Camino to shoot bikers doing biker things.

Margo + Colin. Charlotte, NC Wedding Photography

Margo and Colin are two vegan chefs from Charlotte that make absolutely delicious food and more importantly they are one amazing couple. These two have been there for me since I met them when I first moved to Charlotte. We’ve worked together on Margo’s website photos, Colin’s bands photos and so many other things. However, the day they asked me to shoot their wedding made me the happiest of all. Being a part of their wedding day was such a fantastic opportunity and a total blast. I got to spend a weekend with them and a lot of our other friends in Pennsylvania on her family’s farm eating great vegan food, listening to awesome music, and sharing stories on the patio late into the night and again at breakfast the next morning. I even got sorted by the sorting hat during the reception. I mean, you can’t really ask for much more when there’s a Harry Potter themed groomsman cake. I can’t wait to see their relationshop grow as a married couple, it’s going to be pretty magical.

Weeks. Part 1.

This year for my annual photo project I decided to not do a photo a day, but instead a photo a week. This project started out as a study of light, with me being the single figure in the frame with the environment surrounding me, changing as the year changed. That quickly changed around the fourth week. My life got turned upside down and changed in a very drastic way. I didn’t know this then, but it would be one of the better things that happened to me. I saw myself go through a transformation, and this quickly became a study (in self-portraits) of an internal challenge to find my way out of a lot of pain to finding true happiness for myself and not someone else. We’re now half way through the year at 26 weeks. This is a glimpse into my life as each week passed. For a more detailed look and explanation of each shot CLICK HERE . Stay tuned for the second half of the year. There is a lot of awesome stuff coming.
