Jenn + Ryan

I really didn’t know what to think going into this wedding. I knew it was in Hot Springs, NC, and that place is gorgeous. I knew the couple was from NYC and that they both seemed awesome via email. What I didn’t expect was how awesome they were going to be, and just how gorgeous the scenery really was in that town. We woke up the morning of May 5th (Cinco de Mustache) to pouring down rain and just nasty looking weather. After breakfast, and a good anti-rain dance, the clouds broke and perfect day was ahead of us. Finally getting to meet Jenn and Ryan was so great. You could tell immediately how much the two of them loved one another, and how everyone that was buzzing around the Mountain Magnolia Inn was so excited and ready for the day. All in all, it was awesome. Plain and simple. Great people, wonderful weather, and two people so in love it made you just want to smile.

HRVRD

So recently I got the chance to help out some new friends of mine here in Charlotte. HRVRD is an extremely awesome band made up of even cooler guys. At lunch one day Lee and I were talking about doing some new promo photos for them, for their announcement of signing with Equal Vision Records. When they asked me, I was super excited. This was an opportunity to make some really cool photos, and I didn’t want to let the guys down. After a couple really awesome lunches to get falafel, a trip to SC to get some huge smoke bombs, and an afternoon of scouting locations around Charlotte, we were ready to go. Here’s a few of my favorites.

Josh Huskin - AWESOME!

The third from the bottom on the left is my favorite.

Great concept and execution.

Bode, Stephanie, and Jax makes Three!

You know you’re in for a good day when you meet someone for the first time and they immediately hand you a huge glass bottle Coca-Cola. Well, that’s what Stephanie and Bode did as soon as I pulled into the parking lot to meet up with them. It was the best breakfast. I seriously felt like we were already awesome friends thanks to Instagram (the best social networking app ever). So, we skipped the awkward hellos and jumped straight into just hanging out and having fun. Don’t forget about Jax either. First off, his name is awesome. I don’t think he was named after the character on Sons of Anarchy (but I’m going to pretend he is, because that show rules). We became buds because he likes sharks, I like sharks, and I just so happened to be wearing my shark socks the day of the sesh. After taking a nice stroll to through Stone Mountain park we made our way up the Sky Ride, which I haven’t been on in about 20 years, and it was awesome. After that we just took in the beautiful day we had before and made some awesome photos. I can’t wait to get back to Atlanta and hang out with my new friends and go eat vegan bbq with them at Burnt Forke next time we are in the city. Now…onto the fun stuff!

Gino Cortellino - Good Morning,

I am Stephanies’ Dad, and Jaxson’s Grandfather..he calls me ‘Pops’. Just wanted to say, you have really captured the three of them, Bode,Stephanie, and Jax makes three, as the beautiful threesome they are.

I enjoyed reading your intro..sounds typical ‘Steph and Bode’

Thanks/
Peace.

Angel + Josh are engaged

Getting to see Josh and finally meet Angel was so awesome. Back in the day when everyone in Atlanta had silly swooshy haircuts and wore shirts that were too tight for their bodies, Josh and I were usually found getting rowdy at shows or causing some kind of trouble afterwards. Now, we have grown up and have real hair cuts (and he has one killer beard) and have settled down, a bit, but I’m sure we are still troublemakers at heart. Hanging out with him and Angel where they grew up to take photos was the perfect choice. We hopped some fences and stumbled upon stuff we didn’t even know we’d find. That’s the best thing about putting you’re walking shoes on and just going for it. We definitely had an adventure and I can’t wait for their wedding day. If their engagement session is any kind of preview of what we’re going to get in October at the wedding, consider me pumped.

Megan & Keith: A burst of sunshine on a rainy day

I had been looking forward to this engagement session since we booked it. However, it almost didn’t end up happening due to all these nasty pop-up storms that were sneaking up through out the week and weekend. We were worried it would be a total loss, because there were some pretty bad storms coming through the area we were going to be shooting in. Thankfully Megan and Keith were up for the challenge, and so was I. We made our way down to Crowders Mountain, and when we got there everyone was coming off the mountain. This meant a couple things: one, it was obviously raining real bad up top; and two we’d have the mountain to ourselves after the storm passed. We put on our rain gear (well they did…I walked out the door with out my rain coat). Thankfully my good pal Jonathan O’Brien came to help out and kept the umbrella in my car over my camera. After a crazy 10 minute blast of rain about half way up the mountain, the skies cleared and the sun came out. It made the rest of the hike up the mountain and shoot on the top totally worth it. The breeze was great, the light was great, and Megan and Keith were awesome. They were up for some awesome shots, and seemed like they had a blast doing it. We even got to throw in a fun family joke at the end of the shoot. If you know anything about US history…I’m sure you’ll get the connection. His family is from the North and hers is from the South. Enough said….I’m typing too much, let’s get to the photos!
